Arab Stars' Encounters with Black Magic

By Kamal Ghazal
Throughout history, several Arab celebrities have been associated with stories of magic, sorcery, and the supernatural whether as victims of dark spells or through alleged connections to ancient books of magic.

These controversial tales are not mere tabloid gossip; in many cases, the artists themselves have openly confessed during interviews, sharing experiences that defy scientific explanation.
In this article, we explore the most fascinating of these accounts, where fame, mystery, and fear of the unknown collide.

Ahmed Rateb: The Burning Book of Magic
The late actor Ahmed Rateb, known for his versatile performances and dedication to his craft, lived through a truly bizarre experience.
While visiting Dubai, he received a rare book said to be one of the ancient texts of sorcery -  a copy that, by sheer chance, had survived an earlier attempt to destroy it by fire.

After returning to Egypt, Rateb began witnessing visions of a tall, shadowy man appearing and disappearing in his home, on the streets, and even during rehearsals.

Eventually, he decided to donate the book to the Egyptian National Library. Mysteriously, a fire broke out in the very section where the book was stored, and the artifact vanished without a trace.

Naglaa Badr: Nightmares That Lasted Over a Decade
Actress Naglaa Badr revealed that she suffered from the effects of black magic for 15 years, plagued by terrifying nightmares and persistent psychological turmoil.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts to heal, she sought the advice of a spiritual healer who instructed her to read the Quranic chapter Al-Baqarah daily.

Gradually, her disturbing symptoms faded, and she found relief.

Rania Youssef: Jealousy That Turned into a Curse
The acclaimed actress Rania Youssef claimed that her professional success sparked envy among her peers, leading some to resort to black magic in an attempt to sabotage her life.

She believes that these dark forces played a role in the eventual breakdown of her marriage to producer Mohamed Mokhtar after 11 years of stability.

Horeya Farghaly: Isolation and Illness Caused by Dark Sorcery
Horeya Farghaly endured a devastating period of illness and emotional isolation, which she attributes to a lower black magic spell aimed at destroying her health, love life, and career.

After nearly two years under its influence, she managed to uncover and neutralize the spell, setting her on the path to recovery and a fresh start.

Fifi Abdou: A Mysterious Paralysis on Stage
Beloved dancer and actress Fifi Abdou recounted a chilling moment during a live stage performance when her body suddenly froze, leaving her unable to move.

Doctors found no medical explanation for the incident, reinforcing her belief that she had been targeted by sorcery -  one of several attempts to derail her artistic career.

Suzanne Najm Aldeen: Career Jealousy Turned into Black Magic
Syrian actress Suzanne Najm Aldeen stated that she became the target of a jealous rival in the entertainment industry who used magic against her.

For over a year, she faced a series of inexplicable personal and professional setbacks before finally breaking free from the curse.

Shahira: A Mysterious Skin Allergy Linked to Sorcery
Veteran actress Shahira shared her experience with a severe facial allergy that prevented her from wearing makeup for an extended period, affecting her ability to work.

After numerous unsuccessful medical consultations, she turned to a spiritual healer who revealed that she had fallen victim to black magic orchestrated by a competing actress. Treatment eventually helped her recover.

Somaya El Khashab: A Targeted Artistic Journey
Actress Somaya El Khashab declared that she too was the victim of magic intended to disrupt both her personal life and her flourishing career.

She spoke of serious health issues that nearly halted her professional work but refrained from naming those responsible, simply stating that some people use dark forces to sabotage successful individuals.

Ahmed Flux: From Skeptic to Believer
Actor Ahmed Flux admitted that he had once dismissed the idea of sorcery altogether until a personal ordeal changed his mind.

After experiencing a mysterious health and career crisis, he became convinced that unseen forces had been working against him, and only by confronting and neutralizing the dark energies did he begin to heal.

Magic and Fame: A Hidden Battle Behind the Spotlight
These stories reveal how deeply rooted the belief in magic and the occult remains within parts of the Arab entertainment world not just as a relic of folklore, but as real experiences recounted by celebrities themselves.

In a world where jealousy, ambition, and rivalry run high, fame can sometimes become a battleground for invisible forces beyond human understanding.

Yet one question lingers:
Why don't we hear similar stories among Western celebrities as often as we do in the Arab world?

The answer may lie in cultural and religious differences.

In Arab and Islamic cultures, belief in magic and the supernatural is reinforced by religious texts and deeply ingrained traditions, making it a common lens through which unexplained events are interpreted.
In contrast, Western societies tend to attribute strange occurrences to psychological stress or scientific phenomena, viewing magic more as entertainment or folklore rather than everyday reality.

Moreover, Arab media often grants significant space to such topics, while Western media tends to treat them with skepticism, unless presented within fictional or documentary contexts.

Thus, the absence of similar public confessions among Western stars may not mean such experiences don't exist - rather, they may be interpreted, narrated, or even concealed differently depending on the cultural lens through which they are seen.

The world, after all, remains full of secrets, just waiting for someone brave enough to lift the veil.
