UFO Sightings Across the Arab World: Firsthand Encounters

By Kamal Ghazal
When it comes to UFO sightings, most stories seem to orbit around the United States, Europe, or South America. But beyond the usual headlines, the skies of the Arab world have quietly hosted their own share of unexplained aerial phenomena witnessed not by soldiers or scientists, but by ordinary people who stumbled into moments that defied reason.

These are not always cases backed by photographic evidence or military reports. Often, they are deeply personal, awe-inspiring, and sometimes terrifying events that stayed buried in memory shared cautiously in private or posted anonymously online.

Here is a collection of authentic experiences shared by our audience over the years firsthand encounters witnessed across the Arab world. Some recall glowing orbs, others describe structured crafts, yet all these accounts share a common thread: experiences that raised far more questions than they answered.

Sudan – Khartoum – 2012
In September 2012, during a quiet evening on the rooftop of their home in the Abu Adam neighborhood of Khartoum, 22-year-old Safaa and her family witnessed something astonishing.

Two glowing aerial objects, one resembling a phoenix, hovered and circled above the area. After a few minutes, one shot upwards into the sky and the other followed. Dozens of neighbors witnessed the event. Safaa tried capturing it on camera, but the object wouldn’t appear on video — almost as if it chose to remain unseen.

Saudi Arabia – Mecca – 2011
On January 27, 2011, at 9:25 PM, a man known as Abu Mohammed observed a bright, orange-red object flying silently over Mecca , a city with restricted airspace.

What shocked him was the lack of sound, vapor trails, or flashing lights. Several people nearby also noticed the same object, their gazes fixed on a slow-moving anomaly where no aircraft should be.

United Arab Emirates – Sharjah – 2011
During a brief storm in early 2011, a Syrian expat staying on the 25th floor of a tower in Sharjah reported strange flashes of white light inside the storm clouds.

The lights seemed to take geometric shapes: circular, triangular, even square not lightning, but glowing structures. Though he managed to record video on his phone, he never received a copy. The memory of those shapes lingers without explanation.

Tunisia – Zahena – 2010
In the summer of 2010, a young man named Ahmad was ventilating his home when he saw a glowing orb darting through the sky. It moved too fast for a plane, changed direction abruptly, and seemed to reset its position before vanishing.
He knew what meteors looked like ,  this wasn’t one of them.

Saudi Arabia – Unspecified Location – 2010
Sometime in September 2010, Sarah and her sisters were watching the sunrise from behind their house when they heard rocks tumbling from a nearby mountain.
Looking up, they saw a disc-shaped craft hovering low between the hills. It moved slowly and silently before disappearing , an event that left Sarah stunned for weeks.

Iraq – Northern Region – 1999

On a calm summer night in 1999 or 2000, young Saman (then about 11 or 12) watched what he first believed was an asteroid hovering in the sky.

It had an irregular shape and glowing holes on its surface. His sister also saw it. No one could explain what it was, and the family lacked a camera at the time.

Iraq – South of Baghdad – 1997–1998
During a family gathering at a rural farm, a massive, silent object passed overhead, blocking out the lights from electrical poles.
Ali, 17 at the time, recalls that his uncle, a retired air force officer, couldn’t explain it either. He warned the family to forget what they saw and never speak of it again due to political sensitivities.

Iraq – Northern Region – December 18, 1996
Witness Taha recalled seeing a glowing orb descending from the sky and landing atop a deserted house. The light then vanished.

The local civil defense dismissed his report, but a resident of the house later admitted something strange had happened though he refused to elaborate. The incident remains shrouded in silence.

Egypt – Kafr El Sheikh – 1995
As a child, Ahmad saw a metallic silver object spinning and climbing diagonally into the sky.

He initially thought it was a satellite, but its low altitude and shimmering motion suggested otherwise.

Palestine – Tulkarm – 1995
On a clear summer night, Allen and his friend were walking when they saw a bright, basketball-sized orb floating overhead.

It moved with a slight wave-like motion and disappeared into the horizon, no sound, no trail, no answers.

None of these stories come with radar data or government confirmation.
But they carry something arguably more compelling: human testimony from regions where UFO reports are often dismissed, ignored, or never filed.

While skeptics may point to psychological factors or natural explanations, these witnesses are united by their sincerity and the emotional impact of what they saw.

And though the Arab world may not have formal investigative bodies for such phenomena, these accounts remind us that mysteries in the sky do not respect borders.

Perhaps what sets these stories apart is the silence that surrounds them, a silence ready to be broken.
